Vujičević was born in Sarajevo, then still part of SFR Yugoslavia, to a Bosnian Croat father and a Bosnian Serb mother; the family successively fled to Gronau, Germany two years later to escape the Bosnian War.[3]
Vujičević played with the youth teams of Emsdetten 05, FC Schalke 04 and FC Twente, before making his senior debut for FC Twente on 25 April 2009. He moved on loan to VVV-Venlo in January 2011.
He received his first international call up to the Croatian U–21 by team coach Dražen Ladić for the match against Slovenia on 16 November 2010.
